KaDeWe - Kaufhaus des Westens (Department Store of the West)

The KaDeWe, das Kaufhaus des Westens, (Department Store of the West) is Berlins' most famous department store and one of the biggest of its kind in Europe.
Founded in 1907 by Kommerzienrat Adolf Jandorf it celebrated its 100th birthday on the 27th of March 2007, already on the 1st of March celebrations with a giant cake took place.


The KaDeWe presents itself, after extensive renovation works, more international, younger and more stylish. On the ground floor a Beauty Section of the superlative and the Luxury Boulevard present themselves already. The Wellness-Oasis is ideal to combine shopping with well-being, to experience relaxation for the soul and harmony. The Men's Section is on the 1st floor and the Ladies Section on the 2nd floor has a Designer Boulevard with shops of luxury labels like Armani, Boss, Dior Homme. Designer clothes for children, books, on the 5th upper floor the new Home & Lifestyle Collections, there is nearly nothing that can't be bought at the KaDeWe. The KaDeWe is a department store for the sophisticated taste and presents a refined ambiance. Around 1.800 different brands and labels are available.

Every visit to the KaDeWe is an experience, especially during the pre-Christmas time. The whole of the shop front and the exhibition hall with its atrium is a very special attraction.

The 6th floor - the Gourmet floor with Europe's biggest Epicure Section. On offer are around 33.000 items on 7.000sqm, around 1.300 different cheeses, roughly 1.200 cold meats and ham specialities in addition 400 kinds of bread and rolls. The wine selection is also impressive.

A culinary experience of the special kind. The restaurant on the upper floor is ideal for a rest after shopping, to enjoy gastronomically titbits and also a wonderful view onto Tauentzien and the Gedächtnis Church, to the Reichstag cupola.
