Berlin Television Tower
image author: Gisela Pape The Television and UKW-Tower, called lovingly the "Telespargel" (Tele-asparagus) by the Berlin people, is one of Berlin's most distinctive landmarks. The tower was built from 1965 to 1969. It was built out of the historical situation of a divided Germany and a divided city and out of necessity to create a efficient transmission facility for the area of the DDR. The city's highest building impresses not only with its measures and sizes. Height with antenna 365m, weight 26.000t, weight of the facetted Nirosta-skin of the ball 4.800t. One can enjoy a fantastic panorama view up to 40 km, when the weather is favourable, from a height of 200 m. The Telecafé attracts in a height of 207 m. It turns itself twice per hour bedded on a swivel. Enjoy an unforgettable view over Berlin at the Panorama-bar with a cup of coffee or glass of wine.

The Neptune fountain was created in 1891 by the sculptor Reinhold Begas and was original situated between Stadtschloß and the Marstall. The bronze figures, heavily damaged during the 2nd World War, were restored in 1969 and integrated into the park at the Television Tower.

Aus einem Brunnenbecken aus rotem polierten Granit erhebt sich der Meeresgott Neptun mit seinem Dreizack auf einer riesigen Muschel, umringt von Meerestieren. Der Brunnenrand ist geschmückt mit vier Frauengestalten, die Rhein, Elbe, Oder und Weichsel darstellen.
